The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation Board of Directors established the Freedman Prize in 1998 to honor the memory of a pioneer in biological psychiatry, Daniel X. Freedman, M.D. The Freedman Prize is presented to the NARSAD Young Investigators who have distinguished themselves through exceptional basic science research. The Freedman Prize Committee is comprised of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation Scientific Council members with expertise in basic research. Each year, the committee selects the winner(s) and honorable mention(s) in the spring, and the honorees are subsequently invited to attend an awards ceremony in New York City in July.
