Behavioral Physiology

We use adjustable multi-site multi-electrode arrays for recording neural activity in animals performing behavioral tasks. Coupled with optical manipulations, we are able to identify and modulate specific neurons linking microcircuitry to behavior. Our experimental setups (arenas, electronics) are custom-built and adapted to facilitate temporally-precise observation and manipulation of the neural substrates of cognitive function.
