Valerie joined the lab in 2018 to work with tree shrews (tupaia belangeri) as a new model organism within the lab and lab manager. Her current research with Mike and Ralf focuses on utilizing the tree shrews for more complex cognitive tasks while investigating thalamocortical interactions. She has previously worked in the Fitzpatrick lab at Max Planck Florida where her research focused on the contribution of cortical neuronal activity to visually guided behavior in the tree shrew.
